KidsPeace announced that it received a $7,250 grant to fund programs supporting foster families served through its Williamsport (PA) foster care office.
The grant is from the Williamsport Lycoming Competitive Grant Program at the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania.
The funding will help fund an event to bring together foster families from the region, with the goal of forming connections that support both families and foster youth through family-friendly group activities.
In addition, the funding will support KidsPeace’s efforts to facilitate emergency foster placements in the region, through extending its “Mo’s Closet” program. Named for a beloved KidsPeace associate who pioneered the idea, Mo’s Closet offers families clothing, toys, hygiene products, school supplies, household items, safety equipment like fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and a range of items specifically meant for the care of children with autism. Through the Mo’s Closet program, families can quickly gather the items they need to prepare for an emergency placement of a child in need.
The Williamsport office is part of KidsPeace’s Foster Care and Community Programs (FCCP) service line, which supports approximately a dozen foster families in Lycoming County.
