Angier Woman Named KidsPeace North Carolina Foster Parent Of The Year

RALEIGH, NC (May 5, 2022) – KidsPeace announced that Blanche Royall of Angier, NC has been named the organization’s 2022 North Carolina Foster Parent of the Year.

Blanche was selected by KidsPeace Foster Care’s North Carolina state leadership after being nominated by Sarah Dowd, program manager in the organization’s Raleigh foster care office. In her nomination, Dowd noted that Blanche recently marked her 20th year of fostering, and “provides extraordinary care to foster youth who most families would shy away from – kids with significant mental illnesses and intellectual disabilities, and who have experienced horrific trauma.”

“Blanche literally goes the extra mile (or how many miles it takes) to visit with kids in hospitals pre- placement to begin building that parent-child relationship,” Dowd added. “At one point, Blanche took a leave of absence from her job in order to help a youth adjust to her home… so that she could adequately support her during her transaction into school and acclimate to life outside inpatient psychiatric residential treatment. The transformation that Blanche has helped this young lady achieve is phenomenal.”
